Our Practice

As the surgery expanded it moved to new homes of Faussagh Avenue, Cabra and Exchange House, Castleknock and in late 2010 we moved into our new premises in Castleknock - 2 Main Street.

Dr Power shared his time between the two surgeries and worked singled-handed until Dr Suzanne Milligan joined as an assistant in 2001. She became a full-time partner in 2003.

With the further expansion of the practice and two medical card lists in 2004, we now have one full time assistant GP Dr Aznita Mazlan.

The practice continues to be an active participant in the North Inner City Partnership in Primary Care and the Castleknock CME group. It has close links with the Department of General Practice in RCSI - being one of its founding augmented teaching practices and regularly teaches students in the community.

Dr Liam Power (Partner) MB BCh BAO DCH DCP

Liam graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1981 and subsequently trained mainly in Dublin but also in South Africa and England. He completed his training at a practice in Folkestone in Kent. Liam has post graduate diplomas in child health and family planning and is accredited for level 1 Methadone prescribing.

Interests:

Minor surgery including: excision of moles, cysts etc, suturing of wounds, cryotherapy - freezing of various lesions and warts.

Joint injections for treatment of tennis elbow, tendonitis and arthritis.

Well man treatment clinics

Dr Suzanne Milligan (Partner) MRCGP MB BCh BAO DRCOG DFFP DCH

Suzanne attended the Faculty of Medicine at The Queen's University of Belfast from 1992-1997 and completed her hospital training in Craigavon Hospital and The Ulster Hospital.

She then undertook her GP registrar training, with research, at the Department of General Practice in Queen's and Woodbrooke Medical Practice in Belfast. Her research involved cervical screening and teenage pregnancy.

Marriage moved her to Dublin, where she became a lecturer in the Department of General Practice at The Royal College of Surgeons in 2001. Through her GP liaison visits she met Dr Power and joined the practice in 2001.

She became a partner in 2003 and attained her own medical card list in 2005.

She is still actively involved in Student teaching and was a founder member of the Augmented Teaching Programme in RCSI. Plans for the future involve becoming a GP trainer and continuing to build on her interests of health screening, women's health and teenage health.

Dr Katharine Crowe (Full-Time GP Associate) MB, BCh, BSc, MRCGP

Dr Crowe has joined our practice from May 2011 and will be based in our Cabra surgery with also occasional clinics in Castleknok. She studied in St Andrews university before working in Manchester and Ireland

Practice Nurse

Our Practice Nurse is Aoife Cunningham RGN, BSc, DNS. Aoife studied in Dublin and has worked throughout the capital before joining our surgery in Apr 2010. Aoife works out of both our surgeries.

Practice Manager

Mr Glen Hassard became our practice manager in 2005. He is in charge of the
day-to-day running of the surgery - much to the relief of Drs Power and Milligan.

The practice manager is responsible for the organisation of staff and the day-to-day workings of the clinic. His role includes managing the financial aspects of the clinic, development of rotas for doctors' surgeries, overseeing the workings and presentation at reception, and ensuring ongoing communication between all members of the clinic team. He manages the computer-based technology of the clinic and is responsible for the maintenance of the premises.

We are a teaching practice and consequently we regularly have medical students from the RCSI in the practice. If you object to a student being present at your consultation please let the receptionist know.
